Your Friends and Family

Depression can also be devastating on your relationships. Your friends and family often feel helpless when you're depressed - especially if you have many of the above symptoms. They often don't know what to do and it probably seems that what they try doesn't really help anyway. You may push them away, become really irritated or maybe the depression is too strong for you to even listen to them when they want to help. Depression can also make you needy and clinging. This can drive people away and make you feel even more depressed. Whatever your symptoms, the truth is that depression is probably hurting your relationships.

Work and Art

Your ability to work and create can be seriously impaired by depression. It takes away the desire to create and then makes you feel like you're walking through heavy mud just to get to the first step of a project. This can affect your self esteem as well as your ability to support yourself financially. When you're depressed, it's just so hard to get things done. This can be a vicious circle that leads to even more depression.

Self Esteem

Depression robs you of your self esteem. Even someone who once had confidence and belief in their life can lose it all when depression starts. I call it the confidence killer. Depression seems to have one mission in life- to make you miserable and then make you feel like you deserve to be miserable. The good news is that you don't have to live this way anymore. Depression can be treated if you have the right program.
